“Looking up from underneath
Fractured moonlight on the sea
Reflections still look the same to me
As before I went under
And it’s peaceful in the deep
Cathedral where you cannot breathe
No need to pray no need to speak
Now I am under all
And it’s breaking over me
A thousand miles down to the sea bed
Found the place to rest my head
Never let me go
Never let me go”
This afternoon was absolutely beautiful, so I spent a few hours at the harbour front photographing everything in sight. A little tourist-y of me I suppose, but not the same at all as when I first laid my eyes (and lens) on the city. There’s something different from capturing Toronto in the eyes of a Torontonian, and the eyes of a tourist.
Above is a self-portrait that turned out exactly how I wanted. I have some other shots from the day, as well as a whole collection of photographs (including my favourite instagram shots) that I’d like to post. Perhaps this weekend if I can find the time.
Above lyrics are from “Never Let Me Go” by Florence + The Machine. You can find the song on her sophomore album, Ceremonials. Florence will also be gracing us (meaning Toronto) with her presence on August second, and, announced yesterday, she’ll be hitting the stage at Osheaga 2012! So very exciting.
